I have an older Kennedy tool box that sits on a Kennedy chest. I would like to move it to a new spot in my shop, but to put it where I want I have to remove the lid for height clearance. I don't really mind taking the lid off which leaves it unlocked all the time, but I cannot figure out how to remove it. I thought maybe the hinge pin was just mushroomed a bit on each end. So I very carefully ground one end off to the point where I am sure there is no mushroom. Then I tried to tap it out with a pin. No luck. Doesn't budge. I don't really want to destroy anything here, and would like to be able to put it back together some day. I am sure they intentionally made this difficult to do or else the locking mechanism could be easily compromised. Does anyone know how they attached the hinge pin or how to get it out? Thanks in advance.
Edit. One option would be to just not use the very top compartment and leave the lid closed all of the time, but that locks all the drawers.
