Hand saw sharpening - What am I doing wrong?

Hi

I am struggling a bit with saw sharpening. 

I am “learning” on a small gents saw. I have built a par of file guides (@ 15* rake and 20* fleem). 

I did not add/change the set (but have a 42x saw set it it is needed)

I am doing something wrong or have the guides set incorrectly
  I am getting the following result (note saw teeth are pointing up against a with plywood background)

What am I doing wrong?
How do I fix this?
   1 joint the saw… but how do I get the spacing correct?

The problem is that you using the file holder in the wrong direction when you flip the saw. You have wonderful 5° rake on the first half of the teeth and then you put 25° rake on the other half.

Everything will get easier once you stop turning the saw arround.

If you sharpen all the teeth from one side, the teeth pointing toward you become slightly longer than those on the other side. If you are jointing the saw with very sharpening, this jointing will keep things from getting out of hand. Repeated sharpening without jointing will make the uneveness worse.

An experienced saw sharpener can easily go half a dozen times or more without jointing, however. After all, the reason for jointing is to correct inaccuracies accumulated during previous sharpenings. Jointing not only takes time in an of itself, it also takes a bit more filing to get rid of the flats. So a serious woodworker will sharpen the teeth from both sides, keeping things as even as possible.

Why should they? Maybe your vise doesn't hold the saw in the correct angel?  

I am a hobbyist saw maker. So I joint and sharpen to the point. Ready.
No big flats btw. I joint with a arkansas translucent.
As a sawyer use the middle of the saw more than toe and heal her need to joint the teeth anyway.

The result, the TO got is a result of using guiding blocks (wrong) and turning the blade.

I have been sharpening saws since 1974. I do handwork for a living. You are sending a link to two hobbyists?

Here’s a thought-post a link to one item that exemplifies your 47+ years of work. Just one, so that we have something to evaluate. Because the work of the Two Lawyers is just stellar. To me at least, despite all the hyperbole, your work remains a mystery.

I don't like it when people post commercial work on a forum. Many use the forum as their advertising platform.

I also don't like it when people post work for the purpose of gaining status in a forum. 

I posted in this thread because I felt that poor guidance was being offered. I tried to write a clear answer, Greg, but I will write more if I was unclear.
