I have hose clamps on my air hose fittings. I have thought about the crimps that is used on pex pipe. I have never tried them, but they look neater. I have cut my hand on the hose clamp ends. On oxy-acetylene hoses, I use brass sleeves and a crimper. Maybe someone will have a better suggestion.

A little oil on the barb and then try a hose clamp after the hose is seated.

This is my favorite thread!!!!!!!
A couple of years ago the crimped ring on the air hose failed. I know of no other solution...the hose clamp...I hate it! I keep it wrapped in plastic tape...it's terrible! I use the hose a lot when working at the lathe.
I hope someone has a good suggestion.
Thank you, thank you Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!

Milton makes re-useable ends for air hoses. I get them at CarQuest.
You'll need to know the id & od of your hose.
Easy to put on, put the sleeve over the hose, screw the "barb" in and tighten. No more snags from a hose clamp.

Unbelievable! I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area; my local CarQuest does not stock any size, two major hardware stores do not stock them, Granger carries a different style at a ridiculous price.
At least I know there is a good solution; I will continue the search. I want it today...but there is always Amazon.
