I need to anchor some base cabinets and shelves in drywall. The studs are metal, so I can’t screw into them. The anchors won’t be weight bearing. This may be obvious, but …. I put the cabinets in place, get them level, and the drill a hole through to the drywall. I then remove the cabinets, re-drill for the anchors. Put the cabinets back and screw them in.

Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to do it without moving the cabinets once they e been positioned and leveled?

You have to use selftapping screws I did that all the time on commercial construction IE CVS stores

Get some self tapping screws and find those metal studs.

Shear load on drywall may be marginally OK, but no way would I put any load on it for pull out.

They have lots of sizes to choose from.
I no longer build museums but don't want to change my name. My new job is a lot less stressful. Life is much better.
