I almost bought a Big Green Egg, now I just need to digitize everything in my file cabinet and I'm set. I love it.

I've seen some clever units made from everything from old refrigerators to chest freezers. Anything that holds heat & smoke works, I guess.

A buddy of mine has had a fridge smoker for years with an electric oven burner, works great. First I ever saw a file cabinet smoker

I thought I saw this in the basement. But, they're all hung up on politics. You know something, I'll bet this thing works rather well. My hat's off to the Ozark recycle crew. Add a few firebricks on the bottom to extend its life. A small smokestack in the back would also make it a gem.
Rip to width. Plane to thickness. Cut to length. Join.

Human ingenuity never ceases to amaze me. My only thought on this is what about the paint on the cabinet, not sure i want those fumes permeating my ribs.
