Did you read the product reviews?  Looks like the quality and performance is a "mixed bag"....

You pretty much get what you pay for with dado blade sets.  If you want really clean cuts, and a flat bottom, you need to buy one of the premium dado sets.  You are looking t around $200 for those.

I have an 8" one from before they became a rockler product and a 6" from when they became a rockler item. They aren't bad. I paid $30 for the 8" because harborfreight bought the inventory before rockler acquired them.  Paid about the same for the 6" on sale years ago.

I have others that are better but I use my non branded Irwin made one I bought on ebay years ago for 99% of dados as it makes clean cuts in everything I use it on. Paid less than 20$ for it and it was so much better than the red case freud that I sold the freud.
I do like my olshen  though...

Question to ask yourself, "Do I really need flat bottoms."  Or do you just think you need them in every application.  I have two dado sets.  One extremely cheap set that I use for rough work or where the dado is not exposed, and moderately priced one that I use for exposed cuts.  I clean up cuts made with the better unit with a router plane. Now I do not do a lot of dado cuts so if high volume production work requires a better tool, then you should get a better blade set.   Eternal question, where to allocate your resources....Tom

The referenced one seems to have some issues.

I bought one of these ages ago and never regretted it:

Makes nice flat bottoms. You wouldn't want to be cross cutting plywood with it, but other than that it works well.

I have the same one and have had it for years, love it.

Haven't used the Avenger, but love my Dewalt 7670 set. Great cuts + nice storage case + when I need a dado a certain size, I look at the chart, and select the specified blades and chippers, and the dado comes out the perfect size. Prices have gone up since I bought mine, but still a buy  for $113.

I long for the days when Coke was a soft drink, and Black and Decker was a quality tool.

The DW/Delta 7670 is the best bang for the buck going IMO.

Hi Bob.

50 bux for a Dado is sounding on the lower end of cheapazz POS to me. Without info on who actually makes it I would steer clear. For just a few cuts on a specialty grind I have gone cheap, and even then I usually wish I hadn't, unless I am just making junk cuts, or on aluminum, etc, I'll spend a few $$$$$ to get what I was hoping to. Applies across the spectrum of all cutting tools.

Best....
