Greetings! from Colorado. Stumbled onto this site looking for band saw box ideas.
Current fascination is finding band saw boxes.   Running a Laguna 14Twelve.
Got'a love those ceramic guides.  Here is some of my work.  Thoughts/comments.....[Image: MVDIxsh.jpg]

Well, greetings! And, thanks for the fun submission! I have always enjoyed boxes done your way.
Cool Do you design the box, or 'just draft' (start cuttin')?

Bring more on. Don't be shy.....

Thanks! justdraftn is related to my cycling.  It's where I like to be....just draft'n.

Box building is sort of like the see food diet.  ....you know....I see food and eat it.
I see things in wood and extract them.   I love the challenge of seeing pictures of
things and figuring out how to make them.  Once I see it in my head, I can usually
bring it out of the wood.  ....and yes....sometimes I just start cutt'n and see what happens.

This kitty box is spalted maple veneer and a piece of 200yr oak beam.
I love working w/"flawed" wood.  It is the flaws that  become the character of the box.

Another kitty box conjured out of a totally gnarled piece of Chinese elm.

A fun piece.  As you well know, it’s all in the cutting/glue back steps.
The tambour box was born from the faux roll top box.  Curious and interesting.
There are a couple of videos out there showing how it is done.  I watched them a half
Dozen times and started cutting.  This is 2x8 doug fir framing material.  Good stuff to
Learn on….and when cut w/a band saw just has some wild grain.

..but not the real thing.
So, create the real thing.  True tambour roll top.
….and just because I can, a hidden compartment.

I have more pics at home if you are interested.
I have new ideas for expanding on this technique.
...to be continued.
