We have a light in a stairway- it works when it wants to, no rhyme or reason.
It is controlled with two switches, all new wiring.
The light was bought off Amazon so the quality isn’t the best.
It u I s difficult to get to the fixity, but I did v pull it and checked the connections a while ago.
There is a junction box in the attic I can get to.
My plan is to connect something at the junction box to see if the issue goes away or not.
My suspicion is the issue is in the fixture.
any thoughts?

I would just wire a bare bulb in and see if that works all the time.

Of course the light is working now!

Could it possibly have thermal protection?

I doubt it is a thermal issue- it happens in cold weather, warm weather. The light hasn’t been on in a long time etc.

I am beginning to think swapping both switches might be worth it

Are they both 3 way switches ? If they have on and off positions marked they are not 3 way.   While it is working try operating one switch and turning if off with the other to see if it is working ok then do it with opposite switches..   That will eliminate the switches.   Is there a dimmer in that circuit with led lamps ?   Roly

No dimmer. True 3 way switches- I did all new wiring when this was installed.
LED bulb.
I think one switch may be the issue. If/when it fails again I will swap the switches.

1st thing I would do is change the bulb. Drivers in LED bulbs can cause that to happen. Sometimes they come on, sometimes they don't. When they come on, they will typically stay on until you shut them off.
