sharpening veritas cabinet scraper

As the others have said, make sure your hook is not too aggressive, and don't overdo it on the pressure when burnishing the hook.  How much bow are you applying to the blade when you put it in the scraper?  The brass screw behind the blade bends the blade to allow it to be more or less aggressive.  And, I really hate to bring this up, but are you sure the bevel facing the back of the scraper?  Bevel to the back, hook to the front.
