I also have heard great reviews about Vinces sandpaper but I can not afford it and get mine from Lee Valley and he sells both regular and serrated as well at a price I can afford and they do last a few sanding's.
As of this time I am not teaching vets to turn. Also please do not send any items to me without prior notification. Thank You Everyone.

that's an excellent idea. I sand with a right-angle drill so I can angle the pad the way I want, but the shaft is a better idea. I'm going to check and see if the flex shaft on my power carver can be used on the drill. it has a chuck on it like a drill does but I'm not sure how it attaches to the carver.

You don't want that. Too flimsy, as it's made for small bites. Something similar to

This looks promising.

The one I'm using from here.

Better to follow the leader than the pack. Less to step in.

They don't hold up very long, not more than a few minutes when power sanding a bowl. I'm wondering what you all use and where you get them? I'm thinking of trying to find hook and loop paper and making my own pads. I can probably create a punch cutter in my dad's forge fairly easily.
If you can't find hook and loop paper... maybe you can try making some.

Vince sells 2 different blue pads.
Which one do you think is a better value?
One is called Zirconia Max Discs
and the other is called Blue Flex Discs

I think the flex disks work better. They don’t crack while sanding a piece curved in 2 directions.
We do segmented turning, not because it is easy, but because it is hard.

I have no clue which is better since I have never used them before just what I heard of the Zirconia Discs Max and the Blue Flex as well.
So I concede to Scenerymaker on this.

Okay... I ordered a bunch of stuff from him today (online) ... he called me at night because he had been short something, and he threw in some extras of something else, to make up for it and a nice little gift too.
Nice guy.
