If you want to splurge and make it a $20 vise, I got a roll of cork from AC Moore or Michaels or one of those places and lined my jaws with that. You probably don't have to worry about the jaws marring a workpiece with the DF, mine is white oak so I wanted a softer grip. But I like it a lot!

Nice work on the vise. You can always upgrade to acme rod down the road if you choose.

There is a nut on the inside of the back board (rear jaw) that is mortised into the board (a tight fit that matches the hex nut) so that it cannot turn. It is hidden from view by the front jaw.
