Yes, glad to know I am not the only one.  I am changing out the 12 gauge 3 wire cord supplied with the machine. The cord supplied was very short.  I bought a 10 gauge 3 wire 12 feet long.  I have run it, and it is incredibly smooth and leaves the board with an incredibly smooth surface.  A bit of a bang on the startup.  I checked everything for anything loose including belt tension.  I think it will be fine.  Maybe a soft start switch could have been a nice addition but I think it will be fine.
