I have a Milwaukee and a DeWalt, both 18v. Not impressed with either, although the slow speed is good for drywall demo. As for cutting branches from a ladder, I choose (one of) my 5007 Makita circular saws. A sharp blade at full rpm's will cut thru a 3" branch before it knows it's supposed to fall. When a cordless sawzall binds during the cut it can push you and the ladder off the tree. They're better from the ground. Mostly because the next battery is closer.
