I watch and try to learn a lot of techniques and ideas from you tube. I am a beginner turner that has a lot to learn, my question is who is your favorite you tube turner to watch. Right now I like watching Frank Howarth and have for the last few years. I also like watching Stephen Ogle's page as well. They are two very different people to watch on you tube but I have a learned several things from both. I also have watched some Tag woodworking videos as well. Anyways if you have a favorite or want to send me in your channels direction let me know I will check it out thanks

Mike Waldt who is from Whales is one. John Lucas is another. Brendan Stemp from Austraila, Carl Jacobson, Custom Chris, and I am sure there are others I like too...

There are some great videos on youtube and there are some that are not so great. It's important when you're just starting out to learn good technique and many youtube authors just do not show good technique.

is kind of a clearing house for woodturning videos. There is a section just for beginners that is very good IMO.

Lyle Jamieson
Lyle spends a lot time explaining technique and why the tools cut the way they do.
Aside from youtube, the best thing a new turner can do for themselves is to find a local club if that's possible. Nothing beats hands on instruction from someone who is a good turner. You can do a chapter search for a local sanctioned club at the AAW website,
woodturner.org
There are also many DVD's that can be helpful for someone just starting. Cindy Drozda, Alan Lacer, Glenn Lucas, have great DVD's and there are many others as well.

Thanks for the replies. I will check some of the others out. I do have a club about 1 1/2 hrs from me that to hope to check out. I mainly like watching them for ideas I am fairly new to turning but I know my limitations

Cap'n Eddie is another. I also like John Lucas and Robo Hippy. Not really a YouTube channel, but Tim Yoder is a great teacher and is a lot of fun to watch. His show was great, and he still produces videos on line.

Forgot Lyle and Tim.... Best skew and hand chasing of threads is Allen Batty. Custom Chris, Mike Piece or some thing like that, Wyoming Woodturner, I am sure I will think of others as my memory catches up...
