Not popcorn.  This was stippled.  Think thinned down joint compound rolled onto the ceiling and a sponge/rag/tool used to press, twist, release to create the pattern.  Let harden/set then primed and painted.  Wetting/scraping wouldn't touch this stuff.

About opening the boxes.  Don't just open them, take the lumber out and sticker it so air can circulate completely around every board - for at least a week before you use it.  Dense stacked wood won't equilibrate for weeks/months.

WELCOME BACK!

This project has grown in scale quite embarrassingly....the wood has been in the house for over three months now.  Went from "lets pull the carpet and install wood" into this/that/everything being documented

Was making pretty decent progress on the flooring when I hit a detour.  Wife decided that wood in the guest/half bath wasn't worth the risk and that we needed tile instead.  So rather than finishing off a room of wood floor this weekend, I finished setting some 2" hex tiles

I like that floor. Is it on a backer or directly on the plywood?

It's sitting on 1/4" hardi backer attached to the subfloor with non-modified thinset and roofing nails.

Really nice tile where did you find it?

We were discussing the idea of switching the plan from hardwood to tile in the room and stopped by "The Tile Shop" a couple of miles down the road just to take a gander.  My wife was instantly drawn to marble tile but the cost was out of our budget.  Happened to walk by the clearance section and there it was for 30% off.  Brought it back into our budget and it pretty much made the decision for us
