Birdfeeder design?
#11
I've tried searching but nothing came up.

Googling proved useless as well. Sure, I get a lot of pretty pictures but nothing useful.

Any ideas?

What aspects of a design would you find useful?

Bird feeder designs are all over the map.  Give us a little help here.  What type of birds?  What type of seed?  Hung from a wire?  Mounted on a post?  Simple and easy to build?  Complicated design requiring a well equipped shop?

Start learning your search engine.  Here's one with all the basics constructed on a chick feeder. http://www.littlehouseliving.com/mason-j...eeder.html

Simple peanut butter jar, but not much of a reservoir. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F_0QfaYNA1c/TZ...feeder.jpg

Minimum woodworking required.  Glue the ring from the jar in your base so you won't lose it.  https://img0.etsystatic.com/043/0/919135...6_k0ou.jpg

Like this.  http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_CzM_y_7mgFo/TF...G_4821.JPG

Wood traditional.  Either single or double-sided.  First few I made - long ago - were divided to feed small mixed one side (small feed slit) and oil seed on the other. (twice the gap) http://www.azwoodman.com/woodstore/birds...er2-lg.jpg

Don't forget the suet for the 'peckers and nuthatches.

And remember, all feeders become squirrel feeders without a guard.
Better to follow the leader than the pack. Less to step in.

Here's mine. I mounted a pair below the martin house. Octagonal structures and roof. The birds love this setup. Look for a book by Baldwin for bird feeders. He had several fabulous designs:

I sell a set of plans for making your own birdhouse and feeder from a "Lincoln log" kit you make yourself.

Nice rustic look, and you can 'build' them in many different designs. Made from cedar.

See the plans here.
