Also, I have fractional bits that can get you as close to MM as possible for standard work.

The problem with needing to get "exact" though is bit quality. If they aren't sharpened/ground to precise specs, they will wobble in the hole and create a larger and/or oblong hole. It is better to undersize the hole, then use a reamer to get the final size. Your drilling machine should have no runout.

You'd be surprised how many US industries have converted to metric, since they sell overseas.  Most of the auto industry converted quite a few years ago.  So, just about any company that sells drill bits also offers metric sizes.  The sources listed in this thread are all good choices.  You could also try Sears, if you need something cheap.  I can't remember if they have them in the stores, but they do sell them on line.

I have had a metric/SAE adjustable (Crescent) wrenches for years.  My adjustable Craftsman wrench I just looked at is 12" if I hold it one way, and 300mm if I hold it the other.  Makes it awkward getting SAE nuts off if they are not positioned so I can face the wrench correctly.
