I agree Michael. If it had spalt lines it would be much more desirable. I'm not sure if I'll like the white blotches when I turn and finish the wood. Thanks to everyone for their input.

I did some more research on the internet and apparently my maple is called "lightly spalted maple." I guess that is the answer that I have been looking for.
