This is "Immemorial Tree of Life" 15 1/2" D Cherry Platter. Was hand drawn, hand carved and then the image burned. Finish Tung Oil dried for several months then the work was done, after that Deft sanding sealer then sanded back to 800 grit and hand buffed w/ a cloth.

Beautiful. A little hard to tell, is the tree lowered by carving?

Souperchicken: the background was carved away just a bit to remove the dry Tung Oil finish then the details were burned in and 2 coats of Deft sanding sealer were applied to hopefully keep the background lighter. I'll take a closeup photo and post it in a little while.
