Thanks guys, given me some ideas to work on.
The Bat boxes are probably about the level we are looking at, but we have a lack of bats. Same sort of construction could make a bird nest or feeding station though. Different wildlife locally, but there are thing like that we could make.
I did find this page which would fit in great with their environment approach, and the school has plenty of trees in the grounds so there will be weta there already.

Some simple wooden boxes / crates / carry baskets would work too and be used around the classrooms.
