My neighbor replaced the columns on his back porch with western red cedar. He gave me a couple of cut-offs which gave me a chance to experiment with "live top" boxes.
I love that the heartwood and sapwood seem to be wrestling with each other. I gave the large one back to him. It just needed to be on the porch!
I had a good day. I used every tool I own!
