Craftsman 113 table saw fence upgrade
#11
I have a 1950's Craftsman 113. XXXX 10 inch table saw. It cuts great but the OEM fence needs improvement.  Looking at upgrades and see a lot of people upgraded to the Delta T2 which is not available.  I see prices from $110 to $330.  The Wixey WR700 is at the $110 mark. Several recognizable brand names at the $330 price point.

1. As a beginner flat stock worker, besides more cost is better or has more brand name bragging rights what does a hobbiest get for the extra $220 bucks?

2. Anyone have that Wixey WR6700 fence and is it better than the Craftsman OEM fence?

3. Any other suggestions for an upgrade?

When I had a Craftsman contractor TS, I upgraded the fence to one like this. I would do it again.

I think the  Wixey WR700  is just a digital readout, which attaches to an existing fence. Personally, I wouldn't find this useful at all. Mostly because I work to lines, rather than measurements mostly.

I've also had the previously mentioned craftsman fence, it worked really well. I tend to prefer t-square type fences in general. I've been using a uni-fence now for a long time and doubt I'd change again.

The Wixey WR700 is a digital readout of the fence position. Not really an upgrade to a tablesaw fence like the Delta T2 you mentioned.

For that extra $200 you can get a new tablesaw fence.

I have had an AccuSquare from MuleCabinet for 15 years on my tablesaw and it has served me well.

Another vote for the Mulecab. Biggest upgrade I made to improve my old Craftsman saw, especially if you want to have the fence double as a router fence for your router insert in a table saw wing. The M-3 fence offers a nice $55 option for that.

I too have the Mule Cab fence. It's solid and accurate. It has one shortcoming for my use, it can't be lifted off the saw, it has to slid off one end. I have a router table on the right side of my saw so I have to lower the blade and slide if off the left side. Here is a very attractive deal if it becomes available:

Another choice I would consider though it's quite a bit more money than the Home Depot offer:

I'd probably buy some 80/20 off Ebay though I'm sure the extrusions they sell are extra straight.

That Mulecab or that T-2 clone from HD would serve you well. Examine both... decide... get it.

If it can't kill you it probably ain't no good. Better living through chemicals.

I also have the Accusquare fence and like it.  Easy to attach jigs or sacrificial fences to it. Light weight, but sturdy. I'd buy another one, but i can't see this one ever needing replacement.

You can also build your own "T" square fence for not much money.   I BUILT MINE for about 30 Dollars maybe fifteen years ago.   They are easy to make.

I’d second the build your own.

They are pretty simple.

I’d recommend sawstop for some of the harder to source parts, such as the camp handle and clamp pad

Very super cool tool is a good place to research and understand all the components of a biesemeyer style tsquare fence.
