I've tried the ones Fred mentioned and the plastic ones with screens.
Nothing has ever worked for me.

Admiral, i bought the gutterglove from HD for the front of my house last year. Just ordered more for the back of my house last week. At my place the issue is pine needles, and the GG does a pretty good job. I think the website tells you that they are not a perfect solution and they from time to time you need to brush debris off the top of the guard. I dont brush it off, but some did stack up on the roof occasionally. Btw, if you go that route, 2 cordless drill s come in handy, one to drill a small pilot hole in the gutter, the other to drive the fastener. Iirc, the fastener has a bit on the end, but it is slow going, predrilling does the trick quicker
