I'm cutting blanks for 1911 grips and found this piece of scrap and made the top row of blanks from it. Can the braintrust tell me what kind of wood it is? Also in the pic is walnut, cherry and purple heart.

end end grain pattern does not match Bocote. Teak is a possibility

I think it's teak for sure. I know it's a oily wood and it smoked and sparked something awful when the laser hit it.

I've only worked with teak twice, but that looks like EXACTLY like teak. That's my guess.
