Any suggestions how to improve the curb appeal of my house? It's a bit weird design as it has no windows in the front. Also part of the roof is flat and the part is pitched.

Pictures would help.
How much surrounding yard?
How close are other buildings?
What kind and how close is the street?
Attached garage?
Put up a decorative fence, "street light", plants.
If you have a garage facing the street and a driveway, park a Lamborghini or Rolls-Royce there.
How much is your budget?

Plant trees! (Selection is pretty important though)

I agree, trees, as JosephP said with proper selection, ground level plants.
Make sure the house, yard is as clean and neat as possible.
I also agree on the use of lighting and decorative, landscape fencing

Improve the curb appeal to sell immediately or just to spruce it up?
Any free advice given is worth double price paid.

I would also suggest some work on the yard. Nice green grass, and do some edging both along sidewalks, street, trees, etc. It will really make a place look crisp. It sounds like a lot of work every time you mow but once you do it a few times and it is in shape it won't take long each time.
