Actually it works just fine. I use mine all the time. The lens is 2-1/4" from the end of the barrel and you can make the push button dowel as long as you want. it's just a question of where you want to break the barrel. you can place it at the end if you want. I personally think it looks cooler if you can't see it is a flashlight.
