Ok, I need a sheet of 1/4" MDO plywood. I'm in Md. I have had no luck finding it online. I know I'm missing something when searching. Also, I'm headed to Gatlinburg, Tenn this weekend so if I have to pick it up on the way I can. Any ideas ?
I no longer build museums but don't want to change my name. My new job is a lot less stressful. Life is much better.

You might ask a sign shop. I think they use it often.

Sorry can't be of any help on the 1/4" MDO; I've seen MDF in big boxes, but not MDO.

I haven't been able to find 1/4" tempered 'masonite' finished on both sides locally either...used to be able to buy that most anywhere.

As for being in Gatlinburg, my one suggestion is Calhoun's

DPI in Toledo, Ohio makes S2S tempered hardboard. Someone in your area should be able to get their products. I can buy their tempered hardboard at Pacific Panel in Irwindale, California.

Stimpson Lumber in Forest Grove, Oregon makes tempered hardboard. I assume they distribute their products nationally.

If you need smaller pieces of S2S tempered hardboard, many local art supply stores sell Ampersand Hardbord panels. My local store used to sell both 1/8" and 1/4"-thick panels, but the last time I bought any they only had 1/8".

I can't remember ever seeing 1/4"-thick MDO. Olympic Panel makes 5/16"-thick panels. You could try giving them a call.

I did a search for MDO on The Woodfinder

To my surprise, one of the 12 hits was Dunlap Woodcrafts in Chantilly VA. I don't remember ever seeing any sheet goods when I have been there, but it might be worth giving Wayne a call to see.

If you do any turning, you owe it to yourself to pay them a visit sometime.

You should be able to find the product you are looking for online if it exists, and is sold.

Find out the exact name of the product you are looking for. Find out who manufactures it. They will know the names and locations of their distributors.

Home Depot sells MDO in minimum 3/8" thickness.

Is the 1/4" dimension critical?

I have found it online, just not sold by someone local. I am doing a repair for someone. Some person put 1/4" Lauan on an exterior surface and painted it. It lasted a couple of years. I was trying to use 1/4" to simulate what was there. I need to investigate further and see what the whole deal is. Maybe it's 1/2" that got covered by Lauan. Then I can remove it all and use 3/4". Maybe marine ply is the way to go.

It's a false panel to simulate a garage door. It's exposed to the weather but does not touch the ground.

Thanks for the replies .
