Robo Reel extension cord and air hose

First saw these on Marc (woodwhisperer) site and thought they were real cool but the $300+ (at the time) was way too much. I stopped by a Lowes a couple of months back and noticed they were clearancing them out. I was surprised Lowes would even carry such an item as I wouldn't think the local DIY'er or even most contractors would buy them. Probably why the clearance. They make both a wall / ceiling mounted version and a portable version for both the air hose and electrical cord. I got one of each. I got around to installing them a few weeks and really like them. I believe they are both around 50 ft. The extension cord has 3 outlets and has out shut off if you accidentally cut it. Both will swivel 360 degrees and when close to the end will slow down the reel motion to avoid that whiplash effect. It also automatically stops if it gets caught on something. Overall I'm very happy with it and is way better than any of the extension cords and hose reels I've used in the past.

You may want to check your branch if they have in stock. They show the inventory on their site but it's not always accurate.

After repairing a broken return spring in an expensive cord reel I bought at a yard sale 5 years ago, I thought that, if I was to buy a new cord reel I would be sure parts are available, if it was a $100+ reel.
The Roboreel cord reel, motor, is not available. A deal breaker for me.
I long for the days when Coke was a soft drink, and Black and Decker was a quality tool.

Glad u got one Mike. I love mine as well. I mostly use the ceiling mounted ones but the portable versions are nice when you need them. I used the portable air reel recently to help my brother help some crown and it worked great.

I noticed that the roboreel website has demo refurbished models for sale. Power ones are $150 and the Air ones are $100.

GREAT, couldn't be better, High prices, and, High failure rates. How else does one get cadavers to "refurbish"?

Then again maybe they just aren't moving at the MSRP, so they're closing 'em out as "refurbs".

Look nice, but too rich for my blood. I use the old fashioned, unreliable, whiplash specials, and have been for at least fifteen years now, and they're just as unreliable and dangerous as the day I bought-um, for about $70.
