Duck Call: please help!
#5
Gents,

Is a duck call a "suck" or "blow" instrument? I bought a couple of (pricey!) duck call inserts. They won't "quack" on blow--no sound at all. They will quack when sucked.

Admittedly, I've only poked a 5/8" hole in a piece of scrap. Could that be it? What am I missing?

You blow it. You are blowing into the wrong end. Blow into the end that has the unsupported side of the reed(s).

You blow on the end opposite of the insert. I just uploaded a video of how I make them.

At the end of the video you can see me test it out.

Btw, where did you get the inserts? I order mine directly from Echo, $6 each.
If it wasn't for last minute, nothing would get done.
