Looking to Buy a Portable Workbench
#11
I am going to buy three portable workbenches for christmas presents. I have looked at the workmates and some others but the newer ones do not seem to be as staple as older models. Any suggestions.

I do like my older Workmate much more than the newer one I have. As far as alternatives, I heard the Centipede system is on sale somewhere (one of the box stores). It looks like a pretty versatile solution.

Both the 225 and 425 models look very similar to the 35 year old I have- and love! I have two other models that were given to me, I don't know why I keep them, they just take up space.

If you want to spend some money I always thought these look interesting.

A lot is going to depend on intended use. If you're (they're) going to use as a painting station, miter saw stand, drilling, sanding, etc., it may be different than for hand planing, carving, and so on.

Menard's had a Keter on sale for half price a few weeks ago (maybe Black Friday, but appears to be gone now) that a friend of mine likes very much.

I have a Keter like that and like it a lot. Packs down to a fairly small package that's easy to carry, sets up quickly, and is very stable. I paid $50 for it at Sam's Club a few years ago, but have never seen them there since.

That walko thing looks slicker than snot on a door knob. Hadn't seen that before.

Kinda bet that's out of the Christmas gift budget ballpark though

There's a couple models of the Keter, I don't know what, if any, difference is besides the colors
