You may remember my recent post about Rubbing Out That Walnut Slab. A couple of days ago I looked up an article in FWW about finishing mahogany. I don't know about you, but when I look something up in an old copy of FWW I can't help but look through the entire issue again. Often it's like looking at it for the first time. Well, as I looked through this issue (No. 164) the last article, right near the back cover was titled "A quicker and better rubbed-out finish" by Teri Masaschi. She describes a process almost exactly like what I used to rub out the walnut slab, including the use of Abralon abrasive pads. I had no clue they were available in 2003 but apparently they were. Anyway, you might want to look up that article if you are considering rubbing out a finish as she goes into more details of the why's and wherefor's than I did.
