Table Saw miter zctp

I'm trying to make zctp for the tablesaw with the blade tilted at 22.5. I made the initial plunge cut for the blade. I then installed the standard throat plate and madr a wider cut in the back for the riving knife . Then I took out the zctp and put the riving knife back in. I'm having a lot of problems getting the zctp back in afterwards. It's probably something simple.

You have the blade and knife all the way lowered before re-seating the plate right?
