Just finished this shelf and got it to the gallery to display my boxes.

I've been remodeling my shop. I'm working on making a marquetry workshop. Production of marquetry cabinets means that I have certain specialty requirements.
My first task was erecting a wall, 14' high by 20' in length. At the top of that wall I installed shelves for my many flitches and assorted pieces of veneer. I am nearly done with a large set of cabinets for other important fixtures for the work. For marquetry I'll need trays, storage for glue, glue pots, a hot plate and sand (for sand shading), frying pans, tweezers, etc. Marquetry is specialist work, and I need a specialty workshop.
Most especially, I need trays. Handling hundreds of tiny, jigsawed pieces requires trays, and I'm going to have quite a few.
On the one hand it's been satisfying to see it take shape, and on the other hand, it has been frustrating to not be working on actual work for presentation. What I have been doing would only be of interest to other woodworkers.
Unfortunately, I don't have a way, except Facebook, to post photos. I may blog when I get going. That will enable me to share better.

I think the discussion always slows down a bit this time of year. With the retreat of winter, many of us are busy with yard projects, lake cabin openings, and all those rites of passage that come every spring. Shouldn't be too much longer before the boards are busy with discussion about outdoor furniture and patio building.

Well I can't say I've been busy building anything, I have been pretty busy developing a beginner class for hand planes. That means I've been sharpening blades, rehabbing and tuning up about a dozen planes. It's going to be a three part class, but I want everyone to have a chance to use a well tuned plane right away. Along with getting the tools ready, I've been developing a lesson plan. That means lots of research on you tube, books, magazines, and personal experience. I'm doing it both for the love of the craft, and as resume material for when I start applying as a high school science teacher next year. I have a thread over in 'Hand Tools' if anyone wants to give some input.
