Poly ?

2 x 5 x 3/4 pine slab with Latex paint. Many parallel kerf cuts on the underside to relieve cupping.
Screws down to a flat sub - top.
Think desk top.

Question is - do I wait to screw this down flat before I clear coat it with Poly or......

Can I poly it in the shop and then screw it down flat on the job site?

I don't think it matters. Just make sure you allow it to expand contract by using slotted screw holes when you screw it down. Otherwise, seasonal expansion/contraction will doom it to cracking.

IMHO you can spray with GF Enduro Clear Poly or Conversion Varnish whenever convenient.
