Refinishing pre-finished Bruce Hardwood?
#4
I am planning to renovate the main floor of my home, including the existing 20-year old pre-finished Bruce Gunstock hardwood.  This may be the most common refinished flooring I have ever seen and was in the house when we bought it those many years ago.  Never liked the color, nor the micro-grooves.  Hoping to eliminate them (or nearly) and stain a different color.  Have about 1200 sq ft. to redo.

Any experience out there with refinishing pre-finished?  Any advice or cautions would be appreciated.  The underlying full oak stock is pretty good stuff so I'd hate to rip out and replace.  Would cost a lot more to do that.

Appreciate any advice or thoughts from you all.

Thanks.

Great info, Joe!  Really appreciate the link.

Anyone know a good refinisher in the DC/Northern VA area?

Thanks.
