Be sure to mind the hole/perch instructions on the Audubon site when you fancy them up.   Ventilation seems an afterthought in some designs as well.
Better to follow the leader than the pack. Less to step in.

What species do you want in the birdhouse?  Do a net search using the name and some specific designs may show up.  I've built some for Kentucky Bluebirds from plans from the University of Kentucky that were designed to keep sparrows out.

As mentioned ventilation, hole/opening size and perch (bluebird houses plans said NO PERCH because predators would land on the perch and reach in and grab nestlings) options can be important.

I created some round birdhouses that get visited by wrens each year.  I wrote an article about them here: http://woodworkerszone.com/wiki/index.ph...Bird_House
I'd be glad to answer any questions.

If you are going down a river at 2 mph and your canoe loses a wheel, how much pancake mix would you need to shingle your roof?

The birdhouse for martins is on top. The two feeders are below it.

These are not regular square ones. Neither is LOML, standing on the ground.
Rip to width. Plane to thickness. Cut to length. Join.
