A cherry box for pencils and other nick nacks - butt joints with Walnut pegs. Top panel is textured - mottled with a gauge.
Finished with shellac and wax.

Can you expand on that? I've seen that look off the back end of a ball peen hammer, something like that?

My guess is he meant "gouge" rather than "gauge".

Allen: Thank you - yes, I did mean gouge not gauge. I always confuse the 2. It was a curved spoon gouge.
