Very rare Lie Nielsen plane for sale
#3
When they were first offered, I ordered a Lie Nielsen Junior Jack, the 5 1/4 plane.  I was one of the first to receive mine and along with it, I received a certificate that mine was one of the first 100.  [Image: IMG_5844.jpg]

When it arrived (this was before they came in blue plastic bags). I unwrapped it and ran it over a piece of cherry that was on my bench. Satisfied that it was a great plane, I cleaned it, waxed it and put it away in my heated shop.  I never sharpened or modified the blade in any way. At that time, I tried to collect one of each plane produced by Lie Nielsen.  I had a few Lie Nielsen planes that I regularly used, and the rest stayed in storage.

This medium-size plane slides in between smoothing planes and No. 5 or No. 5-1/2 jack planes in size, heft & function. It's 11-3/4" long, 2-1/8" wide with a 1-3/4" iron. 1-1/4 lbs. lighter than the more familiar No. 5, this Junior Jack is perfectly suited to general stock dimensioning and surface preparation, especially on very hard timbers where its narrower blade requires just a bit less energy to power through the work. Ductile iron body, bronze Bed Rock frog & lever cap, cherry handles. Weighs 4.25 lbs.

Fast forward 15 years and I find that I need to thin the herd. First up is this beauty that has lived in my shop, undisturbed and in pristine condition.

As you can see, this plane is as new in superb condition.   I would like $280 for this very unusual and excellent tool.
