In general that question is like how long do people live. In specific I used to buy Makita tools back in the 80's, pretty much the only game in town at first, then DeWalt got on board. I quit buying anything Makita because their quality was crap next to any other brand, nothing lasted more than a month getting used every day. I still have DeWalt tools from back then that work fine, and some batteries rebuilt but still kicking. I wouldn't have spent 2 bux to rebuild a Makita. I hear they are all the rage now, go figure.
