FS: MORE Sharpened & Tuned Hand Saws SOLD!
#7
Here are some more freshly sharpened and tuned hand saws. PM me for a shipping estimate.

Harvey W. Peace 6 ppi Rip Saw $85 plus shipping - Here is a very nice Harvey W. Peace rip saw with freshly sharpened 6 ppi teeth, perfect for ripping hardwood lumber.

Two apologies - the very faint etch is unreadable, except for the words "Vulcan Saw Works", so it is not possible to determine which saw model this is. I tried to determine this from other features, but information on the variations of Peace saws over the years is limited. The other apology is that the top horn on the tote was broken. It was repaired with an apple wood patch. While it is a solid repair, the color match was not what I'd hoped for, however.

Otherwise, this is a terrific, high quality saw. The plate is in excellent condition and the teeth are very sharp. The tote has some exquisite figure in the wood. Some of the Peace saws used cherry wood, so perhaps this explains the very attractive grain structure and the poor color match with the apple wood patch.

The tote has the patented nickel-plated brass reinforcement plate on the bottom horn of the tote, which is indicative of Peace's "Perfection" line of saws. This was patented under US280,612 by William H. Hankin and Cornelius Tenney on Jul. 03, 1883.

Keen Kutter K88 10 ppi Crosscut Saw $45 plus shipping - Not perfect, but perfectly functional.

This is a Keen Kutter K88 crosscut saw with freshly sharpened 10 tpi teeth. The handle on this saw is very nice, with no chips or breaks, and retains its original finish. The etch is light, but can be seen.

The saw plate suffered some indignity at some point in its life, as there are a few dents near the nose that were probably caused by someone carelessly dropping tools into their tool box. I was able to work out most of them with hammer and anvil, though there is still a very slight curvature from the heel to the toe. It is not enough to affect cutting action, but enough to mention. Because of this and the presence of some light pitting, the price is much lower than normal for a saw of this quality.

The teeth are very sharp and well-formed. It cut very well when I tried it out on a 3" x 3" chunk of hard maple.

One bump before the saws go to eBay.

As several people pointed out, the Harvey W. Peace is a P26 with a cherry wood handle. It is gorgeous!

I purchased saws from Bob before and they reflected the care he put into getting them back to work.
