Fire rated door
#32
First if you don't want a self-closing garage door because your local code doesn't requie it, you are a fool! If you stop and think about presenting fire spread or limiting spread of carbon monoxide from your car or any gas appliances in the garage, a self closing door is a no-brainer.

BTW, you can replace self closing hinges without taking down the door. At least I did it with just some common sense methods.

Joe is right about easily losing the adjustment pin or alen wrench. With these or keys for bathroom door locks, I drill a small hole where the trim meets the wall, in a less visible spot and slide the pin/wrench into the opening.
