I'm working on a craftsman style lamp which requires mica in the shade. Where is the best place to get mica sheets and how hard is it to work with?
Thanks
George

Luckily there are still lamp makers using it. One supplier is micalampshade.com though their pricey.

Thanks Robert. I found these folks online but was just wondering if there is another outfit that has mica sheets.

Woodworker.com and Usamica.com
It is not difficult to work with. I made a few lamps from Wood magazine's plan several years back; they have mica lampshades.

I was wondering - can you shape mica sheets with heat or do they need to be used flat?
