Saw-Stop set off....
#5
in a  handsaw, that is.
Got out the saw vise...

And set up a file, with a holder

To sharpen a saw..
Stanley 6" extra slim taper file,  meet the No. 7 rip saw's  6 ppi teeth

File even lasted the entire 26" length ( this was it's second saw job, too) so I decided to see how well the saw did.    Got a 1 x 1 pine scrap in the vise.....took a few tries to get started, but, once the saw did start..

It was cutting a bit faster than I thought it would.   Was distracted from watching it drift to the left, as the "saw-stop" feature kicked in
Sad

oW!....one pass did this.   I had to use the left hand to steady the pine scrap during the start up.....
At least I don't have to buy a new cartridge, or a new blade
Rolleyes  just another bandaid.   Drift was corrected by an oil stone rubbed down the left side of the teeth.   Polished the plate up a bit, and hung the saw up.

The original Saw Stop...when you nick a finger with a handsaw, you STOP.
Cool

I am not a hand tool wizard, but from what i have read, they typically advise against that.

Glad you are okay,

When I have those days, I typically turn my energy to the shop broom

So far, I have not had to get a "broomstop"

BTDT, and with a sharp saw it can happen quickly, but you do stop......

Just another way to pour "sweat and blood" into projects--literally.
