Actually a little bit of 2x6 framing lumber can easily do the same work. I tend to think of them working when you will soon be wiping glue and other crud off of them rather than seeing them hanging, or laying around looking pretty. Another different strokes, for different folks.

Mine are 1-1/2" square stock from Home Depot.  They were clearance priced because they had slight bows to them, no twist though.  They've been very handy.  I just put some packing tape on them to make sure they easily separate from glue.
