Miter Box
#7
Ok, I never buy miter boxes any more, I've got mine, love it, but shipping these things are a royal PITA, I hate it and swore I'd not do it anymore.

That being said, I found this one, orphaned, and could't leave it on the table priced at $20 and figured I'd pass along the love.  Now, I've not been able to find a mark, someone here might know who made it, likely for a hardware store, but it all works, does not seem to have anything missing, saw is a Porter Disston, teeth measure 23" so its a 24" saw, 12pt, fairly sharp as you can see from my cut, plate has surface rust which will clean up nicely. I might have to take off the handle to get it to fit in the shipping box with the miter box.  As to the box, detents work, and I set it at 45 deg and made a cut to make sure it was accurate, and it was, see pic in Album.  Box needs to be disassembled and cleaned up, lubed and perhaps painted if that floats your boat, in other words, this is a project tool; also, it needs some wood plates on either side, the one that was present on the left I'll include for a template.  So all in all if you always wanted one, here's a bargain box and saw for $25 plus shipping, the extra $5 is to compensate me for having a sore kiester from packing it up.  Remember, even if you are in the Northeast (I'm shipping from NJ) shipping is guaranteed to be more than the cost of the box and saw.  If you are in NJ, pickup is also good, but I will ship.

I did a little digging, and it might be a Langdon #23.  And note I've not raised the price.

See Millers Falls Catalog here:  http://www.blackburntools.com/articles/r...-no-39.pdf

at page 137 of the catelog (pdf page 145).  I'm no expert on MF Langdon boxes, I'm a Stanley guy!
