I'm cleaning up a bunch of moulding planes, which I have no experience with. I got a nice 1/2" dado plane cleaned up and sharpened. I went to test it and the mouth clogged immediately upon trying to take a full width pass. I think the wedge is too long, as the bottom comes almost even with the end the iron at the one corner, jamming up the shaving at that corner and clogging the mouth.
I see that the end of the wedge is shaped at the end to push the shaving out the side of the plane, but that isn't happening. Can I trim the length of the wedge to solve this?
