Need has nothing to do with getting another lathe.

The only tool I have is a lathe.  Everything else is an accessory.

I agree, and if I have a good year their will be two lathes in my shop by this time next year. But, if I do get one this year it won't require a shop remodel. I learned a long time ago, saving money up front is just a waste if you spend more in the long run. Now if I still lived in CA I would probably buy it and set it outside the old shop out of the weather. That's just not an option here.
