I have a few vices.
#6
Beer, wood porn and the two vices shown in the photos.  The two woodworking vices have been sitting on my shelf for a few years waiting for a benchtop to call home.  I am thinking the longer vise at the end of the bench and the smaller one on the face.

Right now I use mostly machines for my woodworking, but hope to change that when I have an appropriate woodworking bench.  If you were building a bench from scratch.  Would you use these vices if not what vices would be best for my upcoming bench?

Those are nice vises and deserve a good bench so they can go to work. I like your plan but it would take me one or two iterations to get it right. My advice is to knock together something quickly and get going. A plywood top on sawhorses would be a good place to start. Good luck.

The first thing I built was a Paul Sellers bench, and I'm glad I did. I use the Rockler branded vise and it serves me very well. That said, I will be building another bench down the road using better wood, and incorporating details that I now know will be helpful for what I do.

I am thinking if you send them to me for a year or so I can give you much better advice.

I do not know what everyone else thinks but I would like the longer vice on the long side of the table since that is where I would do most of my work.  The short one on the short side.  But then again I do not have a vice so I can not tell you which works best.
Laugh .  However, this does not stop most people from their opinion.
