Laminate glue failure??
#5
A while ago I did a small laminate glue up. I used solvent based glue and it has had a failure- a bubble that is too large to iron down. We have been able to work some loose, but I need to release more so I can re- glue it.

In a different thread some one said lacquer thinner will release the contact cement

Any thoughts?
FWIW I think it was too cold when I did the original glue up

Heat the edge to open and then use the Lacquer thinner.  You may not have success and be forced to relaminate.

Did you try the hot needle trick to allow the air to escape from under it. Just a needle hole is usually enough to let the air out.

I think I got lucky- I was able to release the laminate with just a high power heat gun, and then used a j-roller to work it down. So far it looks like it is fixed. I will feel better in a day or two.
