Would they be easier to "cork"? I am just throwing this out, not a baseball person. At times not a very good woodworker, but I like to practice.

I am not sure if they would be easier, but one could hide the cheating factor easier, I would think. For example, just put some wraps of balsam wood where the cork would go.
